About Me

My photo
I love going to the beach and picking up objects formed by the sea. But I live in a city. This is a collection of things I find on my travels.

Street Art

I found this wonderful picture on the floor in Newcastle. It's a shame that it isn't displayed proudly on some form of fridge with an unwanted magnet gift from an inevitably awful holiday. So I've put it on my fridge. The magnet I have used is a hilarious souvenir- it is a black cat with googly eyes, and someone has just written 'Holy Island' on its bum with gold pen. The tail has snapped off. Enjoy x

Champagne Sign February

I found these lists in Durham and was confused at first- I couldn't see the link between any of the words- it was like a really difficult Only Connect round.

I then turned the paper over and saw the seven times tables (it was like a really easy Only Connect round).

I figured the list of words must be a spelling list. A creepy combination of young children learning, and fire. If they'd spent more time learning and less time burning they'd be better at capital As. Props on 7x9 though.

Autumn

I think that Hydrangeas in their dead, dried up autumnal state are just as lovely as when they are in full bloom. As they dry up and start to decay, the skeletal structure of the petals becomes clear, and they look mint with light shining through them! (yes I've done this). Try telling that to people in Whickham (Gateshead in joke) (they all have nice gardens). Although if it wasn't for these avid gardeners, we wouldn't be able to find such lovely flowers in cities and suburbs. Fun fact about Hydrangeas: their colour is dependant on the acidity of the soil! Alkaline soils produce pink flowers, neutral soils white flowers and acidic soils produce blue flowers (my favourite, thanks for asking). Happy Autumn x

Wish You Were Here!

I found this in Durham.
Evidently someone wasn't very happy to hear from their child.
I love that we only have a small piece of the postcard but are able to deduce the entire remaining text because of the generic well wishes!

Lichen

Living in a city, I am always looking for little bits of nature. Here is some beautiful lichen I found on some twigs in Durham.

My holiday in America!

I found this on the floor in Durham. STRAIGHT WHERE?! It was so urgent, they didn't even finish their sentence. We will never know.
